Spiritual Grounding Techniques-“What is Grounding?”

Do you ever feel like your mind is racing in many directions and you can’t focus on one thing at a time for more than a few seconds? Feeling stressed, anxiety or panicky? Work, home life, kids weighting on your mind? Yup, that is being ungrounded. With work, family, and The Covid 19 isolation, it is easy to become ungrounded.

Staying grounded is essential to your mental, physical, and spiritual health and well-being. It releases anxiety, stress, helps insomnia, helps you stay focused, and promotes calmness, positivity and keeps you rooted to Mother Earth. Spiritual grounding techniques can be used by everyone, kids to grandparents, no matter your beliefs or religion.

Journey with me as we explore easy grounding techniques that set your feet solid on Mother Earth and your mind focused and calm.

First, I would like you to look at the photo below, now take a big deep breathe in, fill your lungs, hold it easily for a few seconds, and then exhale, repeat a couple of times. Let go of any anxiety or stress release as you exhale. Okay, let’s go……

Easy Grounding Technique

This is an easy grounding technique that you can use anywhere, please not while you are driving though! It can be used inside, outside, even sitting in a crowd. Once you get used to doing it, you may even do it with your eyes open like I do. You can imagine the pure white loving energy flowing down from God or from a universal energy.

Let’s start…..

  • Stand with your feet comfortably apart, back straight.
  • Now feel pure white loving energy flowing into your crown (or top of your head) as you inhale deeply and gently, feel flowing downwards to where you feel any stress or tightness in your head. Hold for a few moments.
  • Exhale, releasing the extra energy as you do.
  • Gently inhale again and bring the pure white loving energy downwards, flowing into your crown and bringing it down to your neck, hold for a few moments.
  • Exhale, releasing the extra energy as you do.
  • Gently inhale again and bring the pure white loving energy downwards, flowing into your crown and bringing it down to your shoulders, hold for a few moments.
  • Exhale, releasing the extra energy as you do.
  • Gently inhale again, bring the pure white loving energy downwards, flowing into your crown and bringing it down to your chest, hold for a few moments.
  • Exhale, releasing the extra energy as you do.
  • Gently inhale again and bring the pure white loving energy downwards, flowing into your crown and bringing it down to your stomach, hold for a few moments.
  • Exhale, releasing the extra energy as you do.
  • Gently inhale and bring the pure white loving energy downwards, flowing into your crown and bringing it down to your hips, hold for a few moments.
  • Exhale, releasing the extra energy as you do.
  • Gently inhale again, and bring the pure white loving energy downwards, flowing into your crown and bringing it to your knees, hold for a few moments.
  • Exhale, releasing the extra energy as you do.
  • Gently inhale again, and bring the pure white loving energy downwards, flowing into your crown and bringing it to your ankles, hold for a few moments.
  • Exhale, releasing the extra energy as you do.
  • Gently inhale again, and bring the pure white loving energy downwards, flowing through your crown all the way through the bottom of your feet, downwards toward Mother Earth like roots of a tree. Hold for a few moments.
  • Exhale, releasing the extra energy as you do.
  • Gently inhale, and bring the pure white loving energy downwards, flowing through your crown downwards through your feet and further down like tree roots. Deeper and deeper to the core of the planet, to the heart of Mother Earth. Feel your connection to her heart and enjoy it. This is sometimes referred to as a Grounding Cord.

Be aware that energy can travel through this connection. Ask Mother Earth to send you her love and let it flow up through your grounding cord into your body. Let it flood your whole being. Let your being shine.

Once you have felt this feeling, you can make the connection more quickly by focusing your breathing, bringing yourself into your body and extending your Grounding Cord through the floor and deep down into Mother Earth. This can be done with your eyes open or closed, very easily and gently anytime you need to release extra energy and ground yourself. Close your eyes as you first do this as it will help you focus your mind. You may do this sitting, laying down or standing, inside or outside.

I find I can do this grounding, in a crowd or in solitude with my eyes open and my brain focused. It really becomes quite easy to do as you practice it. Enjoy!

Mother Earth

Grounding can also be done using different techniques including :

 

Hugging A Tree

  • Stand with your arms around a tree, hugging it. Breathe in the energy of the tree and feel its connection to Mother Earth.

Feel your energy connect with the tree and travel down alongside the tree’s roots to the heart of Mother Earth. Children love to hug trees!

I absolutely love to do this when it is raining! Amazing! Try it sometime! And if you are in a forest, you may even feel the trees going you a hug! Just open up itself up and feel it! Wow!

 

Walking Barefoot On The Grass

 

  • Kick off your shoes, work boots, sneakers, rain boots and get barefoot! Scrunch your toes in the grass and feel Mother Earth’s energy!

Feel her energy flowing upwards thru your feet to your heart chakra and fill you with Joy, Love & Peace!

 

And So The Journey Continues

There are many ways to ground yourself, these are just a few of the ways.You can ground yourself standing on sand, rug or any surface inside or outside that you have acess too.  Grounding is a way of extending your energy body down into the Earth to keep you solidly rooted there. Your energetic grounding cord provides a way to let go of excessive energy that doesn’t serve you. It allows you to release extra energy and also releases extra energy you may have picked up from external sources.

Think of your grounding cord as “roots”. Like a root system it can stabilize you so no matter what happens you won’t “fly” away and will remain calm and unaffected. The energy of the Earth is calm, cool energy. Being grounded helps you stay solidly in your body. You are more aware of the sensations and energy flows in your own body. You notice more details of the world around you and you stay in the present moment and let the past fall away, trusting that the future will be even better day by day.

This skill in invaluable in helping you live a Healthy life, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Once you learn to and practice how to ground, you will want to use this every day. When you start to feel stress, anger, worry, hopelessness or any other emotion that disrupts your peace, ground your body and breathe in the healing energy of Mother Earth.

Thanks for sharing.  I really have trouble staying grounded and I feel that a lot of people in this day and age do as well, many being scattered and frantic much of the time.  Humans have lost touch with nature, which is a major cause for our ungroundedness.  Humans come from nature, we are supposed to be at one with nature, yet we are so far removed from it.  These simple techniques have actual scientific evidence behind them and are not just spiritual, woo woo, BS.  I wish more people would realize that.  

    1. Thank you Molly for your comments, even if you aren’t spiritual, you can just envision the pure loving energy flowing. My soul purpose is to spread the the word about grounding as it really helps. I regularly teach people how to do this when I meet them and they are astonished by how calm and peaceful and loved they are once they finish it, of course, I ground myself alongside them too and they can visually see the change in me as I do it.
